I am currently 5 weeks away from my due date and can say the support I've received leaves a lot to be desired. I am someone who has been treated for anxiety issues for 10 years, yet this is practically rubbished when talking to certain members of staff within the maternity service. Everything is set by some invisible 'guidelines' that are one size fits all. Pregnancy is as individual as the woman. Some of the staff are incredibly patronising and condescending and don't seem overly bothered by any concerns you might have. This makes me very worried for when the time comes to have my son, especially as this is my first pregnancy. I must point out that my consultant is fantastically supportive, and other staff should follow her example. More like her please.
"Guidelines guidelines guidelines."
