I felt well prepared for the operation because the operating technique had been described in detail so I knew what to expect. My wishes in respect of anaesthetics were respected. It gave confidence that on coming out of the anaesthetic after the operation my surgeon was there to check that all was well with me and to tell me that the operation had gone successfully. My recovery at the hospital went according to expectations and by the time I went home I could walk and manoeuvre with sticks. My room at the hospital was light and airy and I was carefully monitor ed during my stay. My recovery following the stay in hospital exceeded expectations so that I now forget that there is a replacement hip. I have full mobility in the hip.
