Absolutely fantastic!! I visited recently with a blood shot eye. I was seen within 10 minutes of signing at reception. Receptionist was lovely and polite with the questions, the nurse I saw was excellent, she had a really good look at my eye and asked me about how I felt. After I explained that the lights in the room were hurting my eyes she said that there was something more serious than first thought with my eye and that they didn't have the available facilities on site to diagnose the problem and that I needed to go to the eye infirmary in sunderland straight away. Upon doing so, when I got to the reception desk, I was told that they knew I was coming through as they had been contacted by staff at Shotley bridge. I was examined and diagnosed with iritis, It's since cleared up after a course of antibiotics. I just wanted to thank the staff in the minor injuries unit as they were brilliant. It's just a shame the unit close's at 8pm, as it means you have to go and wait on average 2hrs to be seen in a+e at the university hospital of North Durham (dryburn).
