I was brought into the A & E dept having received exceptional care from the ambulance staff. At the point of handover to A & E staff, I stayed in the dept for many hours . As a professional nurse myself I did not feel I was observed or assessed considering the amount of pain I was in. There is an awful lot of staff who appear to be around but do not keep you informed or confidant about your care. The time taken for a doctor to assess me was a very long time, considering I had been given morphine by the ambulance crew. I can only say I was relieved to be admitted into the care of staff on ASU and then the Orthopaedic wards where I was given excellent care.
