I have regular blood tests at QE2 and visited the Blood Test drop in clinic on Thursday 4th Sept about 10.30am. After paying for parking and waiting for a long time, a phlebotomist attempted to take blood from my right arm even though I told him that they normally take it from my left arm, and warned him that I have 'weedy' veins. He really hurt me and seemed to be unable to understand or speak proper English. He could not get my name correct. I received a phone call later that day from the Warfarin clinic to say that an insufficient sample had been taken and I'd have to come back for another sample to be taken. The phlebotomist also said, after hurting me - "Sorry, sorry - your veins" like it was my fault he could only get blood on the third attempt. My friend who was with me also having a blood test said that the phlebotomist could not get her name right and hurt her when taking blood. I now have to arrange another visit for next week and waste my time and my friends time and petrol to revisit the hospital. Will request another phlebotomist if this gentleman is there on my next visit.
