I was seen by the doctor in the eye clinic on Tuesday 12/8/14. The staff were extremely helpful even though incredibly busy as double clinic running. My appointment was on time, one observation, it was so busy there was a shortage of seating and having recieved eye dilation medication it was a bit awkward having to stand. The nursing staff were professional and courteous. The doctor is a very effective communicator, he fully explained the issue re my cataract, the subsequent surgical procedure to rectify the problem, the risks involved and the desired outcome. I was scheduled for surgery as a day patient the following morning. On my arrival once again I was met by professional, courteous and skilled staff throughout including the clinic led by the Sister, theatre led by the doctor and recovery led by the Sister. The anaesthetist was a skilled practitioner who put me at ease before administering said anaesthetic . The doctor carried out the procedure with such skill that it was completed in less than 25 minutes and I was totally pain free. My vision is now amazing. In less than 24 hrs I had been assessed, prepped had the procedure and discharged! Incidentally I am a public member of the Trust and intended to stand for election as a governor. This experience has merely served to affirm this intention as the staff deserve as much support as we can give to assist them in the delivery of such wonderful care. My only complaint is that my eyesight is now so good in the eye which the doctor operated upon that the remaining eye (which I considered to be my 'good eye'), obviously isn't! A five star service, thank you to all involved. TM Laugley
