"Upset about change of operation times"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Clinical oncology

(as the patient),

I have just been diagnosed with secondary cancer after only finishing my treatment 6 months ago. I went in and told the doctors that I had found a lump. They checked it, and said they did not think it was anything, but they would do a needle test to put my mind at ease. The results came back as positive.

They gave me an operation appointment for Thursday this week. I have had all my tests and my pre-op today, to come back home to an answer machine message. I called back the relevant person, to be told my appointment had been moved to next week. I am appalled that I can be treated this way, with less than 48 hours to my operation and there is no way of changing their decision - it has been made.

Well, what about all the childcare plans and post operative care plans that my family and i have made? The reason given is feeble in the least and I want to know why people feel that they can treat patients this way? Would they like it done to them? NO! They would not. How would they feel if they made dinner reservations to arrive and then be told, oh we have changed them to a date that suits us?
