Our little baby boy suddenly decided to arrive 3 weeks early last Saturday. When we arrived at Labour and Triage we were seen quickly and they realised that Baby Cian was ready to arrive. His heart rate was dropping so it was vital that he was delivered as soon as possible. The staff kept calm but quickly took us to a labour room and called for assistance. Luckily for us 4 midwives and 2 doctors were on hand. They were so supportive and told me exactly what I needed to do. I had been so worried but they managed the delivery so well that I didn't have time to worry. Within 15 minutes of our arrival Baby Cian had been brought in to the world safely and was checked by the pediatric doctor because he was early. Two staff members who stayed with us throughout were so kind and reassuring and helped me to feed Cian and deliver the placenta. All the staff made the labour and delivery of our baby Cian a very special and memorable one. On the very same date the previous year we had discovered that we had lost a baby at 27 weeks due to his extensive health problems. His heart just suddenly stopped. We had known there were problems but had been hoping for the best. Thoughout the heartbreaking and agonising labour and delivery the staff were extremely caring and supportive. We were given the night in the Sands suite to spend with our precious baby Fionn. The bereavement midwife guided us through what we needed to do. Waiting for the post mortem results was tough but I was we'll supported by staff. I soon got pregnant with Cian and was extremely worried throughout the pregnancy. I had several trips to the early pregnancy unit and triage and the staff have always been kind, thorough, understanding and reassuring. I even had one night in the hospital and a scan the following morning but thankfully all was well. I had an appointment every 2 weeks and the bereavement midwives, sonographers, consultants and midwives were excellent. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they were very patient and kind when I frequently got upset. In 2010 I gave birth to our first son and everything was very straightforward and easy. My husband always says it was a great day out and the chips were excellentl! Thank you to everyone involved!! We will always be grateful to you all for everything. Best wishes, Claire Moloney and family
