Today 2nd February 2009 I was forced to cancel my appointment with my Rheumatologist at 3.40pm due to heavy snow,no buses and treacherous road conditions. When I telephoned Outpatients to explain they couldn't give me another appoinment until 29th June (21 weeks away) So through no fault of my own I will not be able to get my xray and blood results and discuss my treatment for a further 5 months. My initial specialist appointment was last September. This beggars belief that I am now left in limbo because the outpatients receptionist can't/won't fit me in earlier than the end of June. Surely she could have used some flexibility as my excuse for changing the appointment was totally genuine and unavoidable. For the record I live 6 miles away from the hospital and I am disabled with severe arthritis. What a way to be treated,it's a damned disgrace.
