My newborn son was admitted last year after he lost too much weight and was struggling to breastfeed. I believe this was due to a lack of care and support with breastfeeding when he was born at jessops in sheffield. However, after arriving at barnsley hospital we were seen to straight away by a nurse who assisted with breastfeeding and was satisfied that we would be able to continue with this rather than use formula, which was what I intended and therefore I felt my wishes were respected and the nurse tried her best to accommodate this. Overall, all the staff were extremely kind and friendly and made what would have been an unpleasant stay much easier to cope with. The level of care my son and I received was very high and more so, I felt like the nurses really enjoyed caring for us and wanted to do their best to make us feel comfortable and keep me up to date with what was going on.
