I have had really appalling mental health treatment from Doctors, local "support" workers and nurses in the IRH but I have always been treated with genuine and highly professional care by the nurses in Dunoon Community Hospital. The hospital is absolutely spotless, the food is fine, the nurses and ancillary staff are wonderfully caring and I would have no reservations about spending time in their care, were it not for the fact that some of the Drs who work alongside them leave much to be desired.
The nursing staff always took my concerns seriously, gave me a safe place to stay in until I felt better and treated me, and the other patients I shared a ward with, with the utmost respect at all times. The ancillary staff were very thoughtful and came to ask me if I would like tea and some toast in the middle of the night after I had had to wait in A&E for some time before transferring to the admissions ward and was absolutely starving but too scared to ask for food. In all honesty, I have never had a cup of tea and toast that tasted so good in my life. Such a seemingly small offer of care that had a massive impact on me and will never be forgotten.
I have total respect for these wonderful, professional and caring people.
Bless them all.
"I cannot praise the nursing staff in Dunoon General Hospital Admissions ward and A&E enough."
