This was my first UK hospitalisation in 12 years and I spent two nights after visiting A&E for severe pains in my lower left side. Subsequent tests to those initially undergone to ascertain the cause revealed atrial fibrillation and the possibility of a previous minor heart attack. From the minute I arrived at A&E in the morning until being wheeled off to a ward later that evening, I felt that I was being cared for, with various tests having been conducted throughout the day. Although there were many other patients, The doctors and nursing staff were doing the best that they could. I was particularly impressed by all the nurses on Surgery 7 who seemed to have a genuine interest in those under their care. When I was finally discharged, I was not allowed to use public transport but was instead taken to my very door by a member of Age Concern, which I hugely appreciated. Despite not having been prepared for my stay, I was given toothbrush/paste, a towel and cleansing agents to cover those emergencies. Sheets/gowns were freshly provided (daily) and there was an obvious attempt to maintain cleanliness. I was impressed. Thank you, PRUH!
"Unexpected stay!"
