After having rather ambivalent feelings about my experiences at York Hospital with the birth of my daughter back in 2011, I was very impressed by the wonderful care I received this time around. I was booked in for an elective c-section after a fairly traumatic emergency section first time round. The staff were wonderful and totally none judgemental about my decision to have an elective section this time and it was great to have continuity of care - for example, the midwife who did my pre-op was also the midwife who looked after me on the ward over the two nights I was in. The team doing the operation were terrific, really kind and wonderfully upbeat which was great for helping to alleviate any nerves. Following the section I received brilliant help with breastfeeding from a lovely healthcare assistant and was looked after by a great team of midwives. The care I received on G2 was especially good. Such kind staff, really helpful and very generous with their time. The team on the night shift were especially good... they gave great advice with breastfeeding, helpful with pain relief and they made the best tea and toast I've ever had. I was in for two nights (three days) and can honestly say it was a wholly positive experience. I left hospital feeling really well, with a happy healthy baby and full of gratitude towards the terrific team. Thank you for all your hard work!
"Brilliant care and wonderful staff"
