What I liked

I have been a patient in the hospital many times, I have received 8 operations or proceedures, (including in the resuscitation room) In the main overall treatment has been good, sometimes very good, but I have found communication between departments very patchy. After my last op I had to enquire why I had no follow up, It got "lost" I am currently awaiting another op resulting from an investigation that commenced in the autumn of 2007. The basic facts and probable treatment was determined at my first appointment, and the requirement two ops, now 3 because the last was not a great success. I have been in pain all that time and feel that this has been completely uneccesary. I do believe that the management needs to get what is currently called "joined up management" I have also had some quite bad experiences but they are now history and I hope that they will not be repeated b

for others. Having said all this I have been very happy with the quality of consultants, and most of the tim e nursing staff.

What could be improved

Management and interdeartmental cooperation.

Hand washes are in place outside departments and wards, many staff do not use them.

Anything else?

I shall continue to use this hospital when and if I need help, but will always keep my eyes open for my own safety.
