What I liked
the newness of the place and the art work on the walls
What could be improved
Not easey to get around, espeicially for people with visual imparitments of ay kind.
choice of treatment, treatment, care, respect, not being used as a pawn in an experiment, not assuming that a visitor was somebody who you wanted to take you home - no respect for choice or confidentiality. A elderly woman opposite me was left for ages whilst the nurses gossiped on the station and she wet herself as she could not get to the loo. Poor communication. investigations not thorough - acute illnesses became chronic as a result of not being seen to at the time of being admitted. A sense of doing the minimum to get you out, rather than properly assessing and treating.
Anything else?
Whilst day surgery was excellent, inpatient was not. outpatient varies from departments - the admin staff can be very insulting. Would never advise a gynae examination by the staff at this hospital. They don't wait and do not let you know when they are about to start the examination. Appallingly atrocious insensitive and disrespectful and highly unprofessional to say the least. Head injury services OTs are extremely poor - has to be the worst in the whole country. Underesourced and inadequate follow up care. Do not seem competent to understand and do not follow up on their own recommendations but leave you hanging in mid air for years. Do not make appropriate referrals.
