I am an anxious individual when it comes to needles and giving blood for tests. I visited for the first time, usually having my tests elsewhere, to walk into a room where another person was also having a test done. I saw the needles and the blood as the patient and nurse talked very loudly about the procedure. I was escorted to a chair directly behind the other patient and I became very distressed. Usually I am fine and don't tend to work my self up to much, just let the nurse get on with it. I sat down in floods of tears and greeted with a 'lets just get on with it'. I told her I am not good with needles and last time collapsed. She didnt tell me to look away and showed me the needled whereas other nurses keep it hidden When she went in with the needle it took her several minutes to find the vein and it hurt so much it felt she was slicing my arm open with a knife. She told me she had to 'dig around to find it' and felt like she was continually stabbing me with so much pain. She did not have any bedside manner and was very short with me. It is disgusting that Congleton War Memorial do not carry out blood tests in private rooms, as it is especially inconsiderate for nervous patients. The nurses need retraining. Or at least a review of the way they treat patients.
