My mother recently had a hip operation at Warwich Hospital. She was on Beaumont Ward. The day time HCA, nurses and physiotherapist were warm, friendly, patient and responsive - the complete opposite of the negative impression often given in the media. The anaestetist visted her before and after and talked her through matters that she was fearful of (she had chosen not to have a general) She told me that he kept her spirits up with humour before she lost conciousness. the surgeon also visited. The hospital was also good at providing booklets for information (essential as it is hard for people to remember even basic information when very stressed) as well as arranging an inspection of her home and provision of amenities to get the bed etc at the right height for her recovery. I know that she has also called the hospital's SWATT team a number of times for advice since getting home.
"warm considerate and tireless"
