Sometimes something so remarkable happens that you have to tell everybody about it.
Just before Christmas such a thing happened to me. To most people it might seem like nothing, but to all the carers who have a loved one in a secure mental hospital I am sure that it will strike a chord. Visits can often be difficult, stressful and unpredictable, especially at Christmas.
For a long time it has been my dream to spend Christmas morning with both of my children, chatting and opening presents. Something many people take for granted.
This year my dream came true and it was all down to a very special nurse who works on Blake ward at Rampton hospital.
KG I know that you went to great lengths, on top of your nursing duties, sorting out a Christmas morning visit for my daughter and myself.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. , We all had a wonderful morning together. Your gift was the ‘icing on my Christmas’. A memory that I will cherish for a long time.
