Accompanied parent with dementia to short notice appointment to investigate DVT. Paperwork in place and parent was seen promptly. Information transferred to assessment unit even before we had walked there with wheelchair. Parent seen by several staff for blood tests, injections and consultation. Each one keen to reassure parent who was increasingly anxious. One person was there to link the procedures together and keep the parent and carers informed about progress and dispensing of medication and final paperwork to go to GP. There was no water left in waiting room. On request a fresh jug of water was promptly provided for thirsty patient. Overall the service was much better than expected.
