"18 months of treatment"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and received excellent treatment from the Nightingale centre. The staff there are fantastic, all of them and we are so lucky to have access to such life saving care. The staff on the hospital ward were to say the least not good, no observations on my return from theatre, no drinks offered, no staff presence. I then had two hospital stays due to cholycystitis and subsequently cholecystectomy, both stays on F1, excellent care in every way. The 2 nurses on night duty on April 4th were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and they were really busy all night. The difference in the care on the wards has to be due to the ward managers in my opinion. I have also had several scans, outpatients appointments, and on every occasion I was treated with dignity and respect. Yes, sometimes you have to wait but that is a small price tp pay. I should also like to thank the staff on the admissions suite and the staff in the theatres, nothing but praise. We hear so much about how bad the NHS is and I should like it to be noted that apart from one bad experience, the care I have received has been excellent.

Many thanks for posting your comments on the NHS Choices website. Due to administration problems we were unable to respond to your response at the time of your post however I would like to reassure you that your comments have been passed to the appropriate areas. I am sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience on one of our wards however I would like to reassure you that there have been many improvements made to the level of care provided in recent years. We have recently implemented a ward accreditation scheme whereby wards are assessed and graded as to level of care, hygiene, treatment and communication provided which will help in improving the care and treatment we provide for our patients. Kind regards Patient Experience Manager
