My GP admitted me to the EAU with a suspected blood clot. I was seen for all inittial checks (bloods, ecg, blood pressure ect) within 20 Minutes of my arrival. The nurse told me it might be a couple of hours before i would see a doctor which i expected, i understand that there are people with more serious problems and i was also assured that it was most like not a blood clot but my GP just needed to be 100% sure. I was sent to x ray where again i probably waited another 20 minutes before i was taken through. After another short wait the Doctor came to give me an update on my Bloods, explained they were still waiting on blood clot results but explained fully what would happen depending upon those results. Told id have to wait 15 minutes for those to come back, however two minutes later he was back over to say they were negative and suspected it was a chest infection. Ive waited longer at a GP Surgery to see a doctor despite the fact ive made an appointment. To say i was in RHH for no more than 2 hours in total, with no appointment just an advance call to say i would be coming up the level of effeciency was outstanding. The care from the two nurses and one doctor i saw was fantastic, felt totally as ease considering this was my first time at an emergency department since i was 6 years old and had no idea what to expect. I also have a follow up appointment this wednesday with the same doctor i saw, which is really brilliant to recieve after care following minor illness. I really wish we heard more positive stories regarding the NHS in the media, because i cannot fault my experience.
