The service I received from all the staff at the gastroenterology department was quite excellent. I was seen exactly at my appointment time, the nursing staff were professional and most kind - in particular the Staff Nurse who informed me fully about the procedure before it was carried out. The procedure itself was not pleasant but the staff were wonderfully supportive throughout, particularly the Nurse Endoscopist who carried out the scoping with great gentleness and care to minimise my discomfort. Afterwards, the aftercare I received from the nurse was excellent and I left the hospital thoroughly satisfied with the entire process. I was treated at all times with dignity and respect by everyone involved and I cannot speak highly enough of everyone in the Department. Working in healthcare myself as an NHS dentist I fully realize the pressures all healthcare staff are subjected to on a daily basis and the complaints culture which seems so prevalent these days. In recent years nearly all of my healthcare has been provided for me privately. It is a pleasure to be able to report that the NHS treatment provided for me at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital is, in my opinion, every bit as good. I do hope you will pass on my comments to everyone at the gastroenterology department.
