Anything else?
I attended the North East Surgery Centre today for a minor procedure. Normally this centre is fine. Today it was like a cattle market. No personalised care, no dignity or respect shown by most staff. One member of staff said to me 'It really is a production line today' and he was absolutely right. My procedure involved a local anaesthetic only. There were about 8 people in the theatre, only 3 of whom were involved in my care. The others chatted away about I don't know what, but certainly not me. I was in theatre freezing cold because the 'oven' that heats the blankets wasn't working properly, so for 5 minutes I was left exposed showing my legs, knickers and stoma. The only person to show any empathy was the ODA who held my hand during the procedure. I think the turkeys being prepared for Christmas probably had more dignity than myself today. My stoma was on public display for all to see. I don't know why Inam worrying though, since most people in theatre, especially the radiographers were more interested in their own private conversations to be bothered about me. A very disappointing visit to the North East Surgety Centre/ battery farm production line.
