"You are amazing and do a great job"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Day Surgery Crosshouse Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I was well informed but I was also feeling very anxious.

I was admitted for my operation to UHC via the single day admission unit, seen by Dr Buck and Dr Anderson - everything explained and I felt much more at ease.  Charlene took me through my admission.  I was much more at ease by this time.

Isabell the HCA in theatre and Megan the Anaesthetic nurse came and walked me to theatre.  Where Dr Anderson was waiting.  Mandy another nurse was waiting to say hello with a lovely friendly face.    I had my hand held by Isabel as I was anaesthetised, it was a very pleasant experience and I felt safe.

The next thing I knew was I was waking up in recovery with the lovely nurse Janice recovering me.  I cannot thank the team  enough for the first part of my journey.   Thank you each and every one of you.   Professional, caring, kind and safe practice demonstrated.

I was then transferred to the gynaecology ward to stay over night where I again felt really well looked after.   The nurses, HCAs, domestic staff on the ward could not have been any more on the ball, professional and kind.   Not just to me but to others on the ward and to family members.   Each and every one of the team were amazing and I’m so grateful for their care.  A special thank you to Staff Nurse Lesley who looked after me overnight and staff nurse Jennifer who looked after on the day shift.   I also met with the physio and a student to discuss pelvic health following my operation, the information is invaluable and they were lovely.

A very special big thank you to Dr Buck for looking after me from start to finish and another special thank you to Dr I Anderson my Anaesthetist for ensuring I was safe and pain free to aid my operation and recovery.

I’ve named lots of members of staff but I’m not forgetting that to achieve safe care for patients it takes a team effort and I can’t thank all the teams involved in my care enough.  Thank you to each and every one of you that I met and behind the scenes keeping the service like a well oiled machine.  You are amazing and do a great job.   I’m very grateful.

Thank you xxxx
