I had been waiting some time for an appointment within orthopaedics due to a breakdown of communication between Glasgow and Wishaw, however when I contacted Trauma & orthopaedics at Wishaw I was greeted with an extremely understanding nurse who competently answered my questions and then transferred me to the Charge Nurse Jill who was simply excellent. When I discussed my situation with her she could immediately tell that it was beginning to affect my mental health and organised a time for me to come into the clinic that day.
On arrival to the hospital I didn't have to wait in A & E and was immediately taken to the new trauma clinic and was greeted by several nurses who all made me feel at ease and did everything they could to keep me pain free until I waited for the consultant.
I didn't have to wait longer than 10 minutes before the consultant came and examined my knee, they referred me there and then for an MRI and said I was likely to hear from them within 2-4 weeks. I cant thank all the staff within the team that day enough. Charge nurse Jill in particular, she got my knee into a brace, fixed my crutches and sent me off with pain killers. Both the nursing staff and doctors within the clinic were so supportive and very easy to talk with. There was a lovely, positive and inclusive atmosphere within the clinic and most definitely the best experience I have had within the NHS.
