My father is the type who never goes to the doctor as he is a typical old school type of man. He is 69 years old. After months of persuasion he attended his GP regarding numbness on one side and memory issues. He was told he would be referred to the Western General Neurological Department. This was in January 2013. He never received any notification and in October he had a stroke, was admitted to hospital where he had 2 more. He is now home and after seeing his GP he was informed again he would be referred to the neurological department and the Dr was unsure why he was not seen already.
We have now been informed that he is "on the waiting list". I presume he is at the bottom of this list and not where he should have been had the referral been acknowledged in January. There seems to be at best confusion and at worst incompetence from either the GP, the hospital or both.
I have looked at other issues on this website and the standard response seems to be email us details. I'd really appreciate someone taking responsibility and supporting me here.
