"Excellent and timely care"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance St John's Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

I was taken from my work by ambulance to St John’s A&E department. As someone who works for NHS it was quite daunting taking on the role of a patient as I am more used to providing care to others.

I had severe breathing difficulties whilst at work and despite use of my blue inhaler, my symptoms were worsening. Both paramedics that attended to me could not have been nicer and made quite a scary situation less distressing.

Upon arrival at St John’s I was soon triaged, and a short whilst later I was taken into a cubicle by Dr Georganta who was very understanding and provided me with further pain relief and kept me updated throughout the steps of my care.

I was also looked after by two lovely nurses, one called Jodie I believe, both who popped in and out to check my obs and check my pain score.

The whole process from attendance to discharge was no more than 5 hours, please kindly pass on my thanks to all staff in the department

Thank you for this positive feedback. I'm glad your journey through the ED went smoothly and you got the help you needed. I hope you're feeling better. Enjoy the sunshine!

I'll make sure and pass on to the team.
