"Very lucky to have two excellent health visitors"

About: Health visiting / Angus Health Visiting Maternity care / Infant Feeding Support

(as a parent/guardian),

We were very lucky to have two excellent health visitors who supported our family postnatally.

We required additional support with breast feeding/ jaundice for my son and we were referred for additional blood tests and to the feeding team at Ninewells (who were also excellent) as well as receiving additional visits at home to monitor his weight.

Claire was very supportive of my feeding journey and understood my desire to continue breastfeeding despite the challenges this was causing for me.

My family was then transferred to another health visitor, Shirley, who has also been excellent with us with my daughter’s routine visits and supported us to seek additional advice from the GP surrounding some health concerns. She had also been very helpful when we needed some advice about speech and language.

Shirley always makes sure we know she’s contactable and if we see her at the GP surgery she always comes to say hello. I imagine there are lots of children on the health visiting case loads and I think it’s such a lovely thing that she remembers their names if we bump into her in the town.

My experience of health visiting has been amazing and our family has felt so supported.

Dear parent,

Firstly, please accept my apologies for taking so long to respond to you.

Thank you for taking the time to make contact through Care Opinion to provide feedback about the care you have received from the Angus Health Visiting Service.

Feedback from parents is extremely important to the health visiting service as it allows us to reinforce good areas of practice but also to make changes and/or improvements when these may be required.

As you know breastfeeding can be challenging at times but with the right support, from the right practitioners at the right time, parents can continue on this journey and enjoy the benefits breastfeeding brings to both children and mothers.

I wish you and your family all the best and thank you again for sharing your positive experience with the Angus health visiting service.

Audrey
