"Face to face GP service"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

(as the patient),

A couple of months ago I developed symptoms which suggested a recurrence of kidney stones, IBS and diverticulitis (also suffer from arthritis). Unable to see a doctor but managed to have a telephone consultation with nurse practitioner. Blood/ urine tests proved negative. Scan arranged. In the meantime my symptoms have worsened.

Phoned surgery when lines opened at 7, held on until 7.25 and was told appointments had gone. This was on a Friday, chances of getting appointment on other days zilch. Did manage to get GP appointment at local hospital the next day.

Following discussion with receptionist who was sympathetic and very helpful, I do wonder if the GP surgery require additional resources. How many face to face appointments do they offer. Currently accepting new patients which must exacerbate the problem.
