"Post op checks"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Dermatology

(as a service user),

Initial consultations and subsequent surgery at the department were both very good.

The major let down is the fact that post operative checks are delegated to your GP,  these are worse than useless leading to avoidable complications.

A big improvement would be suture removal and a subsequent wound check to both be done at the dermatology unit, this in the long run would save money and time in the dermatology unit by removing the need for remedial treatment.

Dear Redbook,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your honesty regarding your recent experience using Dermatology services. I am thrilled to hear you felt the consultation and surgical procedure were good.

Currently Dermatology do not have the capacity to manage post operative wounds due to the volume of surgical procedures carried out in the department.

We do however always endeavor to speak with patients who have questions or concerns postoperatively.

As a department we have considered a 'wound clinic' for post operative management, and this is something we would consider in the future, for now our resources are focused on diagnoses and treatment.

Should you wish to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me via Dermatology.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,

Alicia
