"I felt very well cared for, listened to and respected throughout"

About: Borders General Hospital / General Surgery (Ward 7) Borders General Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

After feeling unwell and seeing my GP I was referred to Ambulatory care. From the moment I arrived to the moment that I left 13 hours later I received excellent care! Everyone that I interacted with made sure I was fed, watered & as comfortable as I could be. The Gynae team, reception staff, auxiliary staff, the porters, the team in Ward 17 and then Ward 7 were all incredible. I was kept very well informed of my tests, the results and involved with deciding the treatment plan.

I felt very well cared for, listened to and respected throughout my stay - I was very anxious to get home to my wee boy before he realised I was missing and the staff were great - they took my concerns seriously, kept me updated when there were delays and were honest about the possibility of an overnight stay being necessary.

They managed to get me home in the wee hours (at my request - they were perfectly happy to leave me in bed overnight if I’d preferred to stay given the late hour!) and they gave me a follow up call in the morning to make sure I still felt well.

I just wanted to say Thank you! It was the first time I’d been parted from my wee boy and everything happened very quickly but the staff made a really scary time feel much less scary!

Everyone involved in my care made me feel as though they wanted to help me get better and get back to my wee boy - and not just a quick fix but properly better!

Special shout out to Brian, Charge nurse in Ward 17 who was just lovely!
