"Labour and delivery"

About: Maternity / Home from Home Maternity / Labour Ward

(as a service user),

I was admitted to Labour ward in mid September in the morning in the thought I was going to get started for labour. However I was already in early labour so just had to wait on a bed in labour ward to have my waters broken. I was very keen to go to HFH to use the birthing pool but had a few complications that made this not the most ideal situation , however at 5pm a midwife from hfh came to see me. She broke my waters and said I could come down to hfh for a while and see how I was, I could get in the pool and if I needed to come back up it wouldn’t be a problem.

This midwife (Katherine) put my mind totally at ease she was so relaxed chatted away to me and was the most amazing midwife I could have asked for. I delivered my baby boy at 9pm in the pool and all was well. I must add that Katherine’s shift ended at 5pm and she stayed with me until I delivered . I was so grateful for this, a midwife from the night team also joined and she too was amazing. The team of midwives that I had and MSW were absolutely amazing I mean nothing was a bother at all .. I was initially trying to breast feed and couldn’t get my baby to latch on so continually had to buzz for help and it was never ever an issue at anytime of the night. Everyone took their time with me and were so patient .. I tell everyone of my most amazing experience in the UHD HFH. In a world where people only ever seem to recognise the negative things that happen in life this couldn’t be more the opposite.

Well done to the amazing team in UHD maternity unit.

I have only positive memories of giving birth to my son because of all of you and the help and support we felt during our stay with you.

Dear Claire2587,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy. I hope you are both doing well.

I appreciate the time it took to write this post and thank you for this lovely feedback. I have shared this with Katherine and the team in HFH. We are delighted that Katherine gave you the support that you needed and was able to facilitate your wish to birth in HFH. Thank you for your kind words in support of all the staff you came in contact with. As a new mother it is important to us that staff are able provide care that is caring and compassionate and responds to your needs.

Once again, we would like to thank you for this positive feedback and we hope that these positive memories stay with you for a long time.

Kindest Regards

Sarah
