I have just been discharged from MHAATS after a mental health crisis and I wanted to thank all of the team for the amazing work they do and for all of the support.
I was so frightened at the start of this journey. I had no hope and thought my life was over and I wanted it to be. But everyone I have came into contact with on the team has been so helpful and made me feel at ease and validated my experience and my mental health struggles.
Having a small team of nurses working with me really helped. I valued the relationships with them and felt I could trust them, be completely honest and be myself with them. They have shown such kindness, empathy and warmth to me whilst I have been on the caseload. They have also challenged me and my thinking and encouraged me to see the good in myself rather than always focusing on the bad.
They always came out when they said they would and followed through on any actions agreed.
I am so grateful to them for everything. They had hope for me when I had lost all of mine and they have helped me to accept I have mental illnesses and that it is okay to need help and to not manage these alone.
I couldn't have asked for more from the service and I am so glad a service like this exists and operates the way it does. This for me is the NHS at its best - there when needed, for as long as needed and with staff who genuinely care.
Thank you MHAATS!
