"Excellent care from the nursing staff"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

The staff within the Endoscopy unit were extremely busy and although they did not reflect this to me it was very clear that the waiting time  for the sigmoidoscopy was  somewhat delayed.

What a breath of fresh air  from the trained members of staff. Cathy Staff nurse assessed me and explained the procedure.(consent form etc)

On entering the Endoscopy exam room I was escorted by Steph the staff nurse. What an informative, caring and knowledgeable nurse who clearly cares about the welfare of her patients and promoting an excellent standard of care.

Diane was the Nurse Endoscopist who had excellent eye contact, easy to understand terminology and clear explanation of what was going to happen.

The procedure carried out with the utmost care and proficiency.

Staff Nurse Steph stayed by my side and kept me breathing slowly and deeply to aid relaxation.

After the procedure  the results were explained to me and follow up information was given.

In the  recovery room, I met Julie (Staff Nurse) who recorded my vital signs  and gave me tea and biscuits. (most welcome)

Overall a very positive experience harboured by the demands on NHS professional staff and waiting list pressures.

Thank you girls! well done
