"I am so blessed and humbled by this experience"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I was recently referred to A&E through my GP regarding my mental health and I was very anxious to attend there.

When I was moved up to a different unit in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (I think it may have been the Emergency Observation Unit), I was greeted by a staff nurse called Lisa and she made me feel at ease with my autism and made adjustments for my care and really helped me to feel better.

The nurse Will who took my bloods was great too and he said I could take my teddy bear out of my backpack to cuddle if I got anxious.

The doctor who I saw (I’m uncertain of her name) made me feel heard and appreciated about my mental health and made me feel like I mattered.

I am so blessed and humbled by this experience and wanted to share this with the staff members involved.

Thank you.

Good morning,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your positive experience whilst visiting the RIE Emergency Department. I will ensure that this is shared directly with Will and Lisa who I know will be delighted to hear that they made you feel at ease and well cared for during your time with us.

We hope that you are feeling better and recovering well.

Best wishes,

Sarah
