I had a recent admission to DGRI, unwell with fever. I was rapidly assessed in the emergency department and admitted to the high dependency unit within a couple of hours.
I was in hospital for 3 weeks and the care throughout was excellent. I am aware that the hospital is under severe pressure and staffing levels are less than ideal but there were no occasions where any of the staff allowed that to affect my care. They were still kind, spent time explaining treatment plans and results.
I had input from a range of specialists who worked well together to come up with a clear diagnosis and management plan and I am recovering well.
The food was excellent and the facilities are excellent. It is always difficult to sleep in hospital but the rooms in the new hospital are so much better at keeping out the noise from the ward.
I would like to thank all those involved in my care in HDU and ward C5.
