"My treatment has been absolutely fine"

About: Cancer Services / Radiotherapy

(as the patient),

My treatment has been absolutely fine. The scheduling of appointments and timings of preparation beforehand is very good. There is always a smile on the faces of the reception staff. I cannot praise them enough - in fact that goes for the whole hospital regarding any dealings I have had, and I’ve had quite a few over the past 12 months. I have no complaints at all. The service at the Maggi Centre is excellent too.

It is good to have the sweeties on the reception desk - that’s a nice touch.

My main complaint would be about car parking. This can be very stressful indeed and I cannot rely on buses getting me here because of the shortage of bus drivers in my area.

Another small thing I could mention is about the toilet roll holder in the toilet - it can be quite difficult to access the loo paper. If it sticks you cannot get it out. Think a new dispenser is needed! Toilets themselves could do with a bit of a refurbish too.

Dear Issy1, thank you very much for taking the time to feedback your experience of our Radiotherapy Department. My name is Bob, one of the Support Workers who would have welcomed you to our department. It is gratifying to hear that our processes and indeed our Reception staff have made things comfortable for you, not to mention Maggie’s which has a lovely, relaxing atmosphere. I will pass on your kind words to them.

The sweeties on the desk are mainly gifts from appreciative patients but we do like to share. On the downside, the toilet floor condition is due to a flood that the department suffered some time ago. Contractors have replaced the flooring to the main areas within the department but our Head of Therapeutic Radiography is currently on the case chasing for the floor to be remedied as quickly as possible. He also continues to take the car parking issue to departmental meetings. I will mention also the tightness of the toilet roll holders and see what can be done.

On behalf of everyone here, I hope you benefit from your treatments and wish you well for the future.

Kind regards... Bob
