I recently attended an eye clinic appointment at Treliske following a cancellation of my previous appointment. Whilst the care I received relating to my condition was very good I felt that there was little compassion showed towards me by 2/3 staff who I came into contact with.
I was treated with kindness and compassion by a Health Care Support Worker, but less so by a member of the reception staff on my arrival and the Consultant who saw me.
In other departments I have visited I have been greeted by the reception staff with a welcome and a brief explanation of what information was needed from me. This interaction at the eye clinic was not welcoming and I was talked to abruptly.
On seeing the Consultant there was no interaction or interest in me as a person which I have always experienced with other Consultants I have seen. The Consultant I saw was cold and almost disinterested.
"Lack of compassion"
