"I was hoping that someone would have been in touch"

About: Sleaford Medical Group

(as the patient),

I have been having stomach issues for around a year so have been back and forwards trying different medications. Some of the doctors have been great and seemed understanding while others have only stayed on the phone for a few minutes. I do find it difficult to fully explain how unwell I’m feeling on the phone especially when they don’t last very long. Getting a in person appointment is difficult.

Ended up getting some tests done. I found out through a letter that the specialist sent to the GP (apparently patients get a copy of the letter now) that one of those tests showed acid reflux. I don’t know what is causing it, if it can be cured or if I’m going to be stuck with it for the rest of my life as I haven’t had anyone explain anything to me.

I was hoping that someone would have been in touch to explain it, especially when the letter says that if treatment doesn’t work then they recommend referral to a surgical team for a fundoplucation. I did search it online, which I know probably wasn’t the best idea, but I had no idea what it was and felt anxious when I read that part of the letter. Searching online didn’t help but I felt like I needed to know what it was.

I do feel like if I had a phone call to explain the results and the next steps then I may not be feeling as anxious.

I don’t want anyone to feel like I’m having a go as I’m not I’m just feeling fairly anxious about the current situation (I’m sure a lot of people would have at least some anxiety if they were in the same situation).
