"I feel like a new woman!"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I'm in my late seventies, fit, active and slim (BMI 21.5) but about 4 years ago developed a prolapse of the bladder.

My GP then inserted a pessary which was excruciating because of its size and material. I had it removed and opted not to have another.

Recently my condition became more severe, even sitting down was difficult! My GP made an urgent referral to Gynae Outpatient Department (Clinic 1) at Exeter's Royal Devon & Exeter.

Gynae Clinical Nurse Michelle and her assistant Kate were immediately reassuring, professional and clearly highly competent. Michelle fitted a flexible silicone pessary ring with support, I felt no discomfort at all.

I am now in that clinic's system for 6-monthly check ups. I feel like a new woman! Just wish I'd asked for help sooner.
