Phoned 111 with shortness of breath which had been going on for just over 2 weeks but had been worsening over the weekend. Spoke with a lovely call handler and a nurse who triaged me, both of them were great at listening to me and understanding my problem.
I then got a phone call from a doctor stating to come up to AUCS as they may require to take bloods and a d-dimer as there is a history of blood clots in my family. A doctor shouted me from behind the door not even coming into the waiting area to get me, then proceeded to ask what was wrong not even introducing themself to me. This doctor was repeatedly telling me that my shortness of breath was due to indigestion and it may present itself due to the 'extra bit of weight around my tummy’, furthermore quizzing me on my eating habits. Doctor was also very condescending telling me my saturations were better than theirs and laughing. Meanwhile I am struggling to get a breath.
Sent home with omeprazole to help my shortness of breath despite not showing any symptoms of indigestion/ reflux which I told the doctor numerous times. Two doctors I spoke to clearly had two different opinions on my care which seemingly hasn’t been communicated between them. I have been left to feel like I have been ignored and despite voicing my concerns, been sent home with omeprazole and nothing to help with shortness of breath.
"Feel like I have been ignored"
