"Staff have been very helpful and friendly"

About: Cancer Services / Radiotherapy

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed after going to the GP I started having hair falling out which was a bit unusual combined with some urinary issues. My GP sent me for a scan which resulted in a biopsy and then I discovered I had prostate cancer.

Luckily it's been very treatable and all the staff have been very helpful and very friendly. I've been having radiotherapy now for four weeks at Ninewells hospital and everything has been really good, very efficient and all very organised or my appointments have been on time.

The only thing that could have been better was that it took quite a while for me to start my treatment. It was nine months from my diagnosis to beginning treatment.

Dear jimmy61, thank you very much for feeding back your experience in our Radiotherapy Department. My name is Bob, one of the Support workers who would have helped you to prepare for your treatments. I am sorry that you feel uncomfortable with the timescales between diagnosis and treatment, however I believe Gillian Watson has asked that you contact her on her email gillian.watson5@nhs.scot should you wish to investigate this further.

On a more positive note, I am pleased to hear that you appreciate the efficiency and organisation within our department and I will certainly pass on your kind words to our Therapeutic Radiographers and other staff who work in the background to deliver our service, thank you.

On behalf of everyone here, I hope you benefit from your treatments and wish you well for the future.

Kind regards... Bob
