"Empathetic and understanding"

About: Motherwell Locality Support Service / Treatment Room

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Took a person I support to get blood work done at Motherwell Health Centre.  This person has severe anxiety and autism, and hates needles. They were given all the time they needed to settle and ask any questions.

Monica, the practitioner,  had taken their blood while reassuring them at all stages. In the 12 years working with this person, this has been the easiest visit for bloodwork I have attended with them. Monica must take all of the credit for this as she was very empathetic and understanding of their needs. They were very relaxed, which is unusual after having bloods taken. Massive pat on the back Monica.

Good evening Michael, many thanks for your very positive feedback regarding Monica, I am delighted to hear that Monica has taken the time to listen and support the patient you were accompanying to have their bloods taken. I appreciate how anxious the patient would have been and I am delighted to hear that the patient left the department feeling relaxed.

I will let Monica know about your lovely feedback, it is so nice for the staff to hear positive comments.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback and I wish you both well in the future.

Kind regards

Paula Smith

Treatment Room Team Leader.
