Approx. 8 years ago, I experienced unusual symptoms, lower left side hypersensitivity. 1st GP said I was a "medical mystery". I felt angry.
2nd GP referred me to a neurologist. Neurologist diagnosed transverse myelitis. She was brilliant. Symptoms eased off.
About 5 years ago, I suffered bouts of abdominal pain. 7 GPs said it wasn't connected to the transverse myelitis. I paid to see a private urologist, who found nothing in bladder and kidneys that would cause my pain.
Almost 4 years ago, during early months of covid, I suffered an episode of severe cramp in my right leg. NHS24 gave me a GP appointment for the following morning. The GP watched as I struggled to walk into the room. I explained my problem and also mentioned a small bit of intermittent pain in my right foot. They ignored the leg problem and said they would refer me to a podiatrist.
The podiatrist phoned me soon after and said it sounded more neurological and referred me to neurology.
The neurologist phoned, got me seen and scanned and diagnosed MS. The staff who were there for my 1st scan were not pleasant. Very matter-of-fact and not very caring. Everyone, ever since, in the neurology dept. of FVRH has been brilliant. I've felt well looked after and listened to.
