During my short stay in the Day Care Unit of the Pilgrim Hospital my treatment was very good. I felt warm and comfortable, so much so I could have stayed for another week. 

Having been at home for 10 days with no dressing changes, I became uncomfortable and felt that my dressings had been on for too long.

Upon being discharged from the ward I was given a letter of discharge with no indication from anyone as to whom I should give the letter to. 

I contacted my GP surgery only to be told that they do not change or remove dressings there, and I should contact the District Nurse Service. The district nurse service told me that I would have to return to the Pilgrim Hospital to have my dressings changed. Having discussed the issue with my partner, we re-called DNS and they told us that we will have to travel about 40 miles round trip to Spalding to have the dressings changed or removed. I feel this was purely because the communications from the staff at the Pilgrim was terrible, no indication of aftercare, which is critical to the successful healing of the body after keyhole surgery. No follow up with GP was arranged either, in fact the discharge letter states that simple analgesia would be sufficient. No continuity of care was offered.

I feel I was treated like a piece of meat with no consideration to my well-being once the services within the walls of the hospital were discharged, leaving me on my own to try and trawl through the mire to get help, it was a joke. A very expensive joke.
