"I felt completely supported and never judged"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Delivery Suite Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C2 Maternity care Northern Health & Social Care Trust / Continuity of Midwifery Carer Service (The Lotus Team)

(as the patient),

My first pregnancy was under the care of the lotus team, my midwife from the team, Caitlin, and Antrim maternity unit.

My pregnancy was no plain sailing from the get go; surgery, breach and big baby. However the care and support I received from Caitlin through was amazing, she was always there for any questions and made my partner feel included at every appointment too.

I unexpectedly went into early labour at 35 weeks and was admitted to Antrim maternity and my beautiful little man arrived safe and well after an emergency section. The team who carried out my section were all amazing and kept everything really calm, explained everything to us and made the experience the best they could considering the circumstances.

I had Kirstie from the lotus team with me for my section and recovery, she was brilliant and I was very thankful for her peppermint oil to help my sickness during my section.

The midwives in Antrim (Eleanor, Steph and Jenny to name some) were brilliant too from the moment I was admitted to when we were discharged home. They were all helpful, caring and supportive, from helping me get washed after my section to helping with breastfeeding and taking the little man for a few hours at night for me to get some much needed sleep and recovery.

Once home, Jess and Caitlin from lotus visited us regularly to check on both of us, providing us excellent aftercare and support on feeding, how I felt and my wound care.

I really can’t fault the lotus team or the midwives in Antrim who cared for us both. As a first-time mum I felt completely supported and never judged.

Dear authenticfw78,

Firstly congratulations on the birth of your little man and thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.

We are delighted that you have had such a positive experience of our services within the Northern Trust. As Lead for Continuity of Midwifery Carer, I am overjoyed that you felt supported and were able to build good relationships with your midwives. One of the benefits of continuity is the team caring for you during pregnancy, birth and the early parenting period and I am glad you found that beneficial.

We will of course pass on your messages of thanks and positive feedback to all team members involved across both the Lotus team and maternity at Antrim hospital. It means so much to the staff to hear, so once again thank you authenticfw78 for taking the time to feedback,

Best Wishes,

Rachel
