"Staff are pleasant and very accommodating"

About: Oncology / Radiotherapy

(as the patient),

I am very happy with my treatment - things are going well and I am very pleased with how quickly it has all happened since the initiation process.

Staff are pleasant and very accommodating.  It is all well organised especially taking the preparation side of things into account.

The one thing I could mention though is the timings of my appointments.  Out of 20 appointments there are only about 3 which are at the same time of day.  It would be good if they were all at the same time but I know this is not always possible and I realise that my appointments were probably slotted into an already busy schedule.

The only time there might be a delay with my treatment is if an emergency comes down from the wards needing a scan or if one of the machines goes down, but these situations don't happen often.

I am lucky in that I have transport organised for me which is great because my main concern would be about getting here - more worried about that than the treatment itself.

Dear Bracken1, thank you very much for taking the time to feedback your thoughts on your Radiotherapy Department experience, to date. My name is Bob, one of the Support Workers who welcome you to our department.

It is encouraging to hear that things progressed quickly prior to you visiting us here and that you feel that we are well organised. I do take your point regarding the uniformity of appointment times and you are correct in that we do have to take whatever appointment times are available on each day. (We too would prefer to have everyone appointed at regular times).

I appreciate your understanding regarding any delays you have encountered. We do try to keep these to a minimum, however as you appreciate, there are times that we have to be reactive and delays are unavoidable. Thankfully, though, arranged transport for you means that it is one less thing for you to worry about and you can concentrate on your health.

On behalf of everyone in Radiotherapy, I hope you benefit from your treatments and wish you well for the future.

Kind regards... Bob
