"Lack of action for simple issue "

About: City Hospital (Birmingham)

After being recommended to go to A&E by 111, I arrived at 3am hoping to get some pain relief as I have had pain for 10 months, but it was particularly bad this night. I was triaged quickly but ended up staying until 11am (9 hours). After checking with reception for some information at 10:30, they informed me of a note on my file stating I was to go to primary care for 9am. However, I was not told this so was left in the main waiting area, meaning I missed my slot at primary care. After visiting primary care they informed that I would have to wait another 3 hours due to missing an appointment that no one told me I had. At this point I decided to leave and have had to miss work to see a gp. I understand a&e are extremely busy and this isn’t necessarily anyone’s fault, but you can imagine my frustration after being in there for 9 hours, without even being offered any form of pain relief, or even an examination of my symptoms. If I was informed of the slot I had at 9 then this issue could’ve been solved, but unfortunately there is evidently a lack of organisation/ communication, meaning the nearly 10 hours spent there had not one single benefit to my condition. I have complete respect for the strenuous nature of working in a hospital, but I also feel as though this issue could’ve been avoided with something as simple as communication.
