"My father's care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Elderly Medicine (Wards 51, 52, 54,55, 57, 8a & 2a)

(as a service user),

My father was recently re admitted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he sadly passed away.

Sadly the family arrived not long after his death.

I would like to take the opportunity to record my thanks to the junior Dr who delivered the death message in a compassionate manner (apologies I didn’t pick up her name and I did not see a name tag).

I would especially like to thank Karen who sat and prayed with my dad as he passed away (he had asked for a chaplain, however they were unable to arrive in time).

The ward was very busy at the time but Karen took the time to be with him and had a quick chat with us prior to us leaving the hospital and described the peaceful manner in which he passed, which was a great comfort to the family.

Karen then returned to her duties in a busy, short staffed ward. She completely embodied the values of the NHS in her compassionate, caring and professional manner.

Dear Smackmac,

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your father.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent experience.

It is wonderful to read the care and compassion that Karen delivered to you and your father at the end of his life.

Are you able to advise what ward this was within and we can share your feedback with the staff member mentioned.

Kind Regards

Rebecca Fulton, Lead Nurse Older People & Stroke Services
