"First class care of my mother"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

I live abroad and my mother - who is in her 90s - was admitted recently. I have written in the past of the wonderful service that has been provided to my mother in the past and now.  While it is understandable that the NHS is busy, my view from dealing with this from afar is you do a very good job given all that the Nurses and Doctors go through.

My story is about Nurse Pauline at A&E, University of Hairmyres Hospital. I spoke to her, and what a professional and understanding individual.

I  was given the details and advised to call back. I did so and was brought up to date and even got to speak with my mother. In my mind, that is first class care.

Pauline, I know we chatted for a bit so personally thank you very much for the details and the new number to call, which I will do.

I know her legs will get better with the proper care and treatment. I trust whoever your leader is you will be back on the great job and the communication you provided to myself.

Be well keep the patients safe and and importantly thank you for a great job.

Dear wearingtn93

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive comments about the care of your mother and the support and communication from Pauline.

Pauline will be delighted that you felt she was professional and understanding. Communication is so important at all times and a physical distance brings other challenges. Your kind words will be shared with Pauline as feedback helps us reflect and learn and provides assurance of care delivery. She will appreciate you taking time to share your experience as she does indeed do a great job.

I am pleased to know that you feel your mum was receiving first class care. I hope that your mum is continuing on her recovery journey.

Thank you again

Best wishes to you and your mum

Lise

Thank you for replying I always believe that it is great that people are advised of the first class job. I did not have all the names Home Care when mum got out,Graham and Jade I believe very good. Also a special thank you to Dr. Manners who provided all of the details. Mum was then re-admitted to Hairmyers Hospital, once again first class by the Team, I spoke with Erna very good and super to deal with ( well you all are). Today I chatted with Nurse Debbie ( ward 3)this morning as I live in Canada. Debbie was also first class. As I noted it is not an easy job as NHS is under a lot of constraints, for me it is evident each and every one does their level best for patient care. If you get a chance send this to the proper department as every bit of help is very important. Thank you again

Dear wearingtn93

My apologies for the delay in my response. Thank you again for your kind feedback and positive comments. Sorry to see that your mum was readmitted. It must be a worrying and difficult time for you and I am pleased to see that staff in all departments are providing effective communication and care.

I will indeed pass your feedback on to staff and departments involved. They will appreciate you taking the time and sharing your kind words.

Thank you again for your time

I hope that your mum continues on her recovery journey

Kind regards

Lise
